Building upon the basics of supply chain management learned within CPIM Part 1 (a required prerequisite), CPIM Part 2 combines the four previous modules (and exams) of MPR, DSP, ECO and SMR into a single course. This workshop will be held from 8am to 4pm on the six Wednesdays of February 23, March 9 and 23, April 6 and 20, and May 4, 2022.
This second half of the CPIM program shows students how to implement proven methods to optimize an enterprise's internal fulfillment processes. Lean, Six Sigma and SCOR principles are embedded throughout this entire curriculum, as detailed below:
Strategic Management of Resources Overview Develop vital leadership skills via the SMR segment including higher level enterprise-wide thinking, strategic planning, developing aligned goals/metrics and implementing operations policies. This section emphasizes how market requirements drive the resources and processes of an organization.
Master Planning of Resources Overview
Explore and be able to apply the principles of demand management, sales and operations planning, master scheduling, and distribution planning, and to identify conditions that require action. This module evaluates knowledge of both supply and demand planning for mid- to long-term independent demand.
Detailed Scheduling & Planning Overview Acquire a working knowledge of the tools and techniques for planning of inventory, including processes such as MRP, CRP, Lean, TOC, and projects. Covers how to use each technique; standard measurements for inventory, materials, capacity and supplier performance; and when to escalate shortage issues.
Execution and Control of Operations Overview Learn how to translate plans into operational activities and define and apply techniques in the operations field. This is the Shop Floor Control process (or Manufacturing Execution System) covering order releasing, monitoring and status reporting plus hourly capacity/materials management within the course of a workday.
Who Should Attend? Executives, managers and those seeking to advance into management or executive roles should take this course. Anyone active in daily management of planning, purchasing, logistics, or operations control will bring home strategic choices for enterprise organization, cross-functional communication linkages, and training development initiatives for long term gains in Customer Satisfaction metrics. This module also helps prepare students for the CPIM Part 2 certification exam.
