What to expect from the virtual meeting:
Global supply chains are multi-tiered, massive, complicated, and lean networks. They are driven by companies seeking low-cost manufacturing and procurement. This leads to increased geopolitical risks; transportation and warehousing vulnerability; crippling delays in delivery times; inventory volatility; corporate culture clashes; and reduced flexibility. It’s further augmented by the lean/JIT philosophy, chasing low-cost labor through global outsourcing, and longer transportation times.
Unfortunately supply chains often make limited provisions for risk or disruptions. When something happened to one supplier the entire network becomes jeopardized and vulnerable.
We will review a number of these vulnerabilities. While companies can’t anticipate or plan for every possible disruption it’s important to plan how to quickly react and respond. We will discuss the importance of supply chain resiliency to be used as a tool to confront, assess, take action to recover, and then quickly return to a stable environment.
